About Know Your Genes

Know Your Genes is a public service provided by the Genetic Disease Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation supporting research, education and the prevention of genetic diseases.

The Genetic Disease Foundation is affiliated with the Mount Sinai School of Medicine's Department of Genetics and Genomics Sciences, whose faculty lead the country in clinical research to improve prenatal diagnosis, carrier screening, genetic counseling methods, and therapies for genetic diseases.

The Department is home to the Mount Sinai Center for Jewish Genetic Diseases, the first center in the world devoted to genetic diseases affecting people of Ashkenazi Jewish descent.
